Did you know even the First Lady Michelle Obama likes Dr. Seuss? Recently it was Dr. Seuss's birthday, and Mrs. Obama celebrated with other Seuss fans. If Dr. Seuss was born in 1904, how old would he be now if he was still alive? During Dr. Seuss's birthday celebration this year, Mrs. Obama talked about how even the President reads! Mr. and Mrs. Obama's daughters read every night before they go to bed. Do your parents and teachers want you read every night too? Barack Obama's family love the books "Where the Wild Things Are" and "Horton Hatches the Egg." What are your favorite books?

I love Mary Kate's blog! It's a great topic for kids. I loved Dr. Seuss when I was younger and still love his books. It's also great that she incorporated the movies made out of his books, too. This blog is light-hearted and it's fun! Kids will love this. I like in this post how Mary Kate incorporates the 'outside' world and reality. She speaks of Mrs. Obama reading these books to her own children.
ReplyDeleteIn answer to the blog, my favorite books of Dr. Seuss are The Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham, and Oh the Places You'll Go.
I agree with Katie. Mary Kates choice of topic was a very good idea. Wtih Dr. Seuss being a well loved author it is easy for kids to fall in love with his work. I grew up reading books suck as "Green Eggs and Ham", and the book about fish. These two books are deffinately two of my favorite Dr. Seuss books. I hope that when I become a teacher I can incorporate these books into my teachings! :)
ReplyDeleteTo answer how old Dr. Seuss would be today, if he were still living he would be 106 years old! My favorite Dr. Seuss books are green eggs and ham. I also like the cat in the hat. Dr. Seuss books are so creative in the way they are written. They are a great tool for elementary teachers to use when teaching as well!
